Mis propósitos para el 2015 - New Year's resolutions

Feliz salida y entrada :)

I had another post ready for today, but I've just realised that today is the 30th of Decermber and I haven't told you about my New Year's resolutions!!

Don't you think that time flies? I do!

So, today's post is going to be a bit weird for me... as I have to confess that I've never ever made New Year's resolutions... I don't really know why... so maybe it will turn out as a complete disaster and I will never make them again.. hope not though! Fingers crossed!

So here's my list. Short and doable.

1. To go back to French. I'm a language person, I love them. I speak English every day (my boyfriend is Scottish as you know after showing him in his kilt on this post) And sometimes when I dream I sepak in Sign Langauge. But I have to say that I've forgotten about French, and I don't like it. I think that I've forgotten lots, and I'm not nearly as fluent as I used to be, and I don't like it. So here's my first resolution.

2. To work out. I feel ashamed to say it, but it's true, I don't do any sports at all. I've kept saying for a while that I need to take up swimming, or yoga, or pilates, as I always have a really sore back. So this is going to be the year when I do it.

3. To learn something about pattern designing. I love sewing, and I've learnt a lot during 2014, especially as last year at this time my sewing knowledge was non existant. So now it's time to learn to design my own patterns. So maybe I'll join a course, we will see. I'll keep you informed!

4. To read one novel in English, at least. I love reading books, but I don't know why, I can't read them in other languages. It really puts me off. I read blogs in English every day, but novels... I'm not able to pick one and start reading it. I've started a few, and finished almost none... So here's another thing to add to the list.

5. To keep posting on the blog regularly. I love writing on the blog as you know, and I hope to keep doing it in 2015, and would like to post at least twice a week. My mum always used to say to me that I always start things and soon stop doing them, and she still says it. But she's not right this time, as I'm determined to keep going with it for a long time.

And now, do you want to tell me your resolutions for 2015?

Hope you all have a great New Year's Eve!

Xx.

Marta.

Good morning from Scotland!!

This year I'm also going to spend Christmas time here. It's freezing, as you can imagine... but I love being here around this time of the year. Christmas spirit is everywhere... the markets, the lights, the decoration, Christmas carols... If you want to see a bit more of what I'm doing these days go on my Instagram!

I've got a really short post today. As I said on this other post, I've started knitting and I love it. So here's another round scarf that I made for myself. But instead of knitting it with the needdles this time, I've done it with the arms! Do you wannt to know how to make it? If so, click here to go to the tutorial that I followed! You can see all the pictures above.

Hugs from Scotland.

MATERIALES

- Vela.
- Cinta de yute.
- Un retal de tela navideña.
- Pegamento.

PASO A PASO

Marta.

Upon request, here's another Christmas decoration DIY.

For today I've prepared an express tutorial. At Christmas time I love having every little corner decorated, but not too over the top. If you've read my last two posts, you know what I mean (click HERE and HERE).

For today I've prepared a decorative candle, very easy to make.

MATERIALS

- A candle.
- Jute ribbon.
- A bit of fabric.
- Glue.

STEP BY STEP

We take a bit of a jute ribbon and we make a bow with it but without knotting it. If you look at the picture above you will see how to make it better.

Then we have to put the fabric around the centre of the bow. And we put a bit of glue to stick it.

And lastly we stick the bow to the candle. Ready!

I also put some bits of straw and of jute ribbon under the candle.

What do you reckon? Easy, right?

Xx.

Hi everyone!

Any plans for the weekend?

It's time to get ready for Christmas... and to buy pressies. We all love buying something different, original, personalised and unique. But that normally means that we'll have to spend a lot of money...

So have you thought about making the presents yourselves? We can make really nice things with little money and I'm sure that people will love them.

So today, I've got a DIY compilation for you, with different ideas of what to make. There's something for everyone!

FOR HER

Does she like sewing? Then you could make a matching sewing set, including a scissors case, a needle case and a pin cushion like these ones. I'm sure she'll love them.

Does she prefer jewelery? Here are some different ideas then.

- Original rings made with wire or paper.

Or if she doesn't like jewelery, then you could make some easy accesories that any of us would like.

FOR HIM

It's always harder to find something for men, especially if we want to give them a handmade present.

So here a couple of different things, easy to make and easy to like.

FOR BABIES

Do you have a pregnant friend, and don't know what to get her? If you like sewing, then you could make really nice things for the baby.

And what's the best part of this type of present? That there's not two of the same. And... giving a unique present is normally a plus!

Enjoy the weekend.

Xx.

Bastidor navideño- Xmas hoop

¿Qué´tal ha ido el puente? ¿Habéis ido a algún sitio?

Materiales

- Bastidor.
- Un retal de tela.
- Lana.
- Aguja.
- Pegamento textil.
- Bolitas de collar para decorar.

Paso a paso

Yo las he cosido.

Marta.

How's the long weekend gone? Have you been somewhere?

I've been in Madrid, and as I told you on Facebook, I had a brilliant idea on Sunday... Going to the centre to see the Christmas lights... Terrible mistake. It was totally packed!

Have you done your homework yet? Have you decorated your house? Is it covered in tinsel from top to bottom?

I haven't finished decorating yet to be honest... The thing is that this year I want to have a 90% of the deco handmade. So it takes more time obviously... but I hope I can finish it this week!

Did any of you make the Christmas tree that I posted the other day? For those of you who don't know what I'm talking about.. here's the post.

And for today, as it couldn't be any other way, we have another Christmassy DIY.

Hoops have been used since a long time ago to embroider, but we can also give it other uses. Currently people use them for decoration. They're used as a frame, with some fabric inside that can be embroidered or not. If you have a look at my Pinterest, there are lots of them.

So for this post I'm going to show you how to use a hoop for our Christmas deco. Here's the tutorial.

Materials:

- A hoop.
- A piece of fabric.
- Wool.
- A needle.
- Glue.
- Beads to decorate.

Step by step:

We first put the fabric into the hoop.

And now we start sewing our Christmas tree with the wool. We start with the trunk and then we make the crown of the tree. Lastly we can make a star on the top. We knot the wool behind the fabric and cut the excess.

And now we can decorate the tree sewing some beads as if they are baubles.

To finish, we have to cut the fabric around the hoop leaving about two centimetres that we are going to stick behind with glue.

And that's it, finished! Easy to make and it looks the business.

Do you feel like making it?

Xx.

Holitaaa! (scroll down for English version)

Vamos a necesitar:

- Hilo de aluminio de varios colores.

- Alicates de punta redonda.

- Cono de poliespán.

Paso a paso:

Marta.

Hi!!

How are you all? We're very happy here in Spain as next Monday is a holiday... happy days!

Do you have any plans for this weekend? Let me guess... Getting out your Christmas deco? So, what if I tell you how to make a very, very easy and cheap Christmas tree?

We're going to need:

- Wire thread
- Polystyrene cone
- Round-nose pliers

Step by step:

We turn the wire around the cone, starting from the bottom to the top.

We take the cone out, and close the tip of the tree using the pliers.

And that's it! It couldn't be easier or faster.

Look at all the ones that I made in a moment! I made them in different colours, and I'm going to place them in a corner of my tiny flat where I'll put all the Christmas DIY deco.

These coming weeks I'll try to post more Christmas tutorials so... stay tuned!

And if you make some of these trees, please send me a pic! It'll make me really happy.

Enjoy the weekend.

Xx.
